I grew up in south central BC in a small very rural community which had no stores, only a post office open twice a week. We rarely had running water, or electricity and we didn't get a phone until I was 16. Despite all this I really enjoyed growing up and living rurally and it has been my goal to move back to the country, hopefully before I'm 40 and I still have the strength and stamina to set up my own place.
In my late teens and early 20's I sold my last horse and decided to travel for 5 years. I had always had horses and my parents view point was we could do whatever we wanted as long as we looked after it ourselves and paid for it ourselves. I'd always been pretty happy to do that but realized I'd never really been free to be young and I should probably enjoy some freedom before settling down. I traveled all around western Europe, Canada and Australia working on various farms.
I've lived in Calgary for the last 13 years and work as a self employed renovation carpenter. I enjoy my work, but I do not enjoy city life and have mostly been working on building equity to buy my own small mixed farm in the country.
I would love to move somewhere where I could have a decent orchard, a small garden and a variety of animals. I'm not set on farming as a living, but would like a rural lifestyle and enjoy self sufficiency and autonomy. I'm not sure I want to haul water again and heat it up on the wood stove to have a bath, I do like some conveniences :D But I don't mind chopping and hauling wood for winter or waking up early every day to feed animals. I'm not a partier and every day is the same to me, I'm just happy when I have space to putter and the calming environment of nature.
I don't drink, smoke and live a very clean healthy lifestyle. I have no particular special diet requirements but I DO like to eat well. I have to take care of my body in order to do my job and I like to feel good :D
I've always imagined that I had to do all this on my own, and realized hmm, I could could be looking for someone who wants the same things, or even better someone who's got some experience :D

Well I work as a renovation carpenter, not as farmer at the moment but I like everything about it except the dust is hard on my lungs.

I haven't lived on a farm in years but have worked on tiny to very large farms.

Well at first I like a nice smile and kind eyes and good hands. Ultimately kindness, honesty and practical skills and an interesting mind. I don't expect perfection thats for sure, but its nice to be with someone who's committed to solving problems and we can work together as a team and build each other up.
