Me Descreveria Como
I don't ride horses but I am a rural gal.
I am good with a spade and chop logs really well.
I know how to dress a turkey and throw some straw down below.
But being slightly girly I don't step in yellow snow.
I look good dressed as a farm hand, look graceful in silk and love a lot of dairy products including full fat milk.
I know geese can get angry, tups can butt your but and I'm all assets and no cash and feel things in my gut.
I can fathom out waste exemption and keep records on demand, can cope with farm audits without any reprimand.
I loath going into the red and work for better days.
I dream about those amazing magic moments in the hay.
I understand the seasons and prepare for the worst, but having a bit of pressure feeds the rural drive and thirst.
I know growing veg is tricky when you are trying to miss the frost and "Mrs Thing" from down the road is feeling a bit lost.
I drop her in a tray of eggs, a smile and check her fridge, hear stories of her past and present and try to learn bridge.
I have had a newborn lamb cascade onto my wellies, the new mum look relieved, then discover I'm quite smelly.
I don't mind when strong rain is blowing in my face or if there's hens to be put to bed and I've got a date for a debate.
I can eat a massive meal and still have room for some more, love being in the kitchen with all ages never bored.
I can turn my hand to most things and not get deterred.
I can deal with the end of an an era before it has occurred.
I should have gone into nursing but others do that better, as I long for open spaces and fighting fiersome weather.
I am so lucky to have children who I can share all this with and love and nurture the best I can from huge love from within.
Farm is the family, the family is the farm and I will keep us laughing with vivacity and charm.
To everyone we know and love our sensitivity is clear, we love each sensational season and believe each year is a good year.
The acres are getting smaller the profit margins too, but somehow, some way we keep on battling through.
